without my glasses I can read a paperback at approximately 15 inches away and most road signage only become legible at 10 feet. That means I can get by with a bike, but I'd survive for maybe five minutes in a car.
I lost a contact lens once in the club and figured I'd ditch the other one because the differences in depth perception was making my head ache. Fortunately I was riding my bike that night and the ride home involved empty roads bereft of any dark wooded segments.
